A good link via Will Richardson on Blog Safety rules for teens.
Via Dan Gillmor comes this site by Larry Magid titled Blogsafety.com with links to topics such as “Blogging Rules for Teens,” “Teens Guide to Safe Blogging,” “Advice and Resources for Parents,” and “Advice and Resources for Teachers.” I haven’t had time to go through the links in detail, but since Dan is a trusted node on my network, and Larry is one on his, I just thought I’d link to it since I hadn’t seen it crop up anywhere else. Check out the accompanying blog too…

This paper by George Siemens is the beginning of a dialogue he has started on Connectivism: Learning as Network Creation
The summary at the end has my head spinning with its implications. It reminds me of excerpts from Carlos Castenada when he describes Don Juan walking through a landscape filled with beauty but so outside the conditioned ways of perceiving how things are, it is a bit scary/awsome. I really do like this and will delve deeper into this dialogue as it unfolds.
“Those theorists most closely aligned with the new landscape are also those who most readily acknowledge that the process is one of coming to know, rather than of knowing. The developing structure of technology, neural research, institutional reorganization (from hierarchy to network), and social impact of learning under new ideologies, is evolving too rapidly to be effectively detailed as “this is what it is.” The moment this declaration is made, the environment has shifted. Learning is an in-process activity. We need to lay aside the desire to know, and embrace instead the desire to continue to learn. Knowing is no longer a destination. Knowing is a process of walking in varying degrees of alignment with a dynamic environment.”
